With a much buzzed-about album in collaboration with will.i.am on the horizon and a hot new show on the books, the princess of pop’s SHAPE magazine cover is just icing on an already very frosted cake. Baring a white-hot bikini in the June issue, which hits newsstands (and iPads) on
May 20, the 31-year-old former X Factor judge shows off the strong body she’s been working toward while gearing up for her show in Las Vegas, which is slated to open this fall. So how does she stay at the top of her game?
“I’m doing 90 minutes of yoga twice a week in addition to a lot of cardio—hour-long sessions three times a week with my trainer, Tony Martinez,” she says. “The [Vegas] performances won’t be simple—they’ll be a massive party from start to finish. And to pull this off, I have to be in top condition and running at full speed.”
But it’s not just exercise that keeps her in check. The star follows the Nutrisystem program—a shake for breakfast and lunch plus a dinner of protein and veggies—to keep herself from indulging in food she makes for her sons Sean and Jayden, specifically chocolate chip cookies “I try not to make those too often or I’ll eat the whole bowl of dough.” To keep things interesting at the gym, she has Martinez add in fun drills for her and exercise variations so she doesn’t get bored. And she also turns to some favorite songs for motivation. On the list?
